A few years ago the capital of China was named Peking. When did it get changed to Bejing?
Strangely, in some countries such as Italy, Peking is still recognised as the official name for the capital of China
Peking was an English corruption of the word Beijing. In recent years, as we've become more 'sensitive' to other cultures, we've started using more proper pronunciations. That is why it took me a few weeks to realize that Bombay, India and Mumbai, India were the same city.
