Photo Pretty
Is it a good idea to put my photo in my resume if I am very pretty?
I am a college student and I would like to work in finance/investment banking after graduation. IMy impression is that the majority of people disapprove of photos, but I thought that given the economic climate, I wouldn't mind if my looks help me a little when I enter the job market.
What do you think?
I actually mean CV, not resume. Sorry for that.
just because YOU think you are attractive does NOT mean the employer will,
you could actually cause the employer to not even consider your qualifications because of your "looks"....
it is not legal to make an employment decision based on certain criteria, but the fact is it happens, and the criteria you would like to use to help yourself could be used against you....
in fact most reputable employers would return the photo to you,
it is illegal to make an employment decision based on race, sex, etcetera... and to prevent the perception of discrimination any smart employer would NOT allow the photo to be attached or seen by anyone who is making an employment decision..
if your qualifications warrant an interview you will have ample opportunity to impress the employer with your "good looks" at the interview...... although many may consider you for the job based on your looks those same types of employers could discriminate against you based on those looks....
let your education and qualifications get you in the door, then knock their socks off with your looks.
even better make sure you are dressed to impress when you deliver the resume'/CV or application. do this in person, that way you get the benefit of a great first impression without the possible stigma of the photo....
