How do you do an old-fashioned Giselle bun?
I am performing Giselle this weekend and I have no idea how to do an old-fashioned bun with the hair over the ears. Someone told me to just leave pieces of hair out of the front of my head and somehow work it into my bun. How do I do that? If anyone could give me specific directions and tips, I would greatly appreciate it. Pictures would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!
I was Myrta in Giselle a year ago. put your hair in a slightly tight, secure low ponytail, leaving about an inch of hair loose in the front on either side. make sure your hair is parted straight down the middle. if your hair is curly or frizzy like mine, have some hairspray to smooth down wisps as you go. leaving the sections of hair loose on either side, use the hair gathered in the ponytail to create a flat bun at the base of your head. secure with pins. (i suggest shaking your head to ensure that you're good to go). then take the sections, one at a time, and drape them over your ears, loose enough to cover them but tight enough to visually connect with your other hair. wrap the remaining end of the section around your bun, and secure with bobby pins. repeat on either side.
