Military Brigadier

What is the highest form of military rank? Is it Brigadier General?

The highest grade in the military is 4-stars. In the Army, Air Force and Marine Corps, the grade is called General. In the Navy and Coast Guard, it's called Admiral.

There were a few 5-stars, but they have all passed away and there is currently NO legal authorization in the U.S. code for such a grade. Congress would have to pass a law to authorize 5-star appointments.

Brigadier General is only a 1-star.

And the other answerer is incorrect. Commander-in-Chief is not a military grade. It is a Constitutional power of the President of the United States, who is a civilian.
