Harbour Water

Does buoyant force increase when a ship sails from ocean to fresh water and sinks slightly deeper?

If a ship is sailing from the ocean into a fresh-water harbor, and sinks slightly deeper into the water, does the buoyant force on it change?

The wording of your question is a little confusing.

Because fresh water is less dense than salt water, the ship is less buoyant in fresh water, so it sits deeper in the water because it must displace more water to stay afloat.

The "force" required to keep the ship afloat is exactly the same, however. If the ship weighs 100,000 tons, then it must displace 100,000 tons of water. It's only that salt water is denser, so less volume of it is required to make that 100,000 tons, so the ship rides higher in the salt water.
