What did chefs/cooks wear in early 17th century France?
I was wondering if anyone knew of some paintings or information that they had found that would give any insight to what chefs/cooks would have worn in France in the early 17th Century (1600-1650)?
Possible answers might reference hat styles, aprons, daily wear...Assuming that this chef does NOT cook for any nobility, but instead runs their own shop in Paris.
Do you need primary sources or just general information?
If not wearing some nobleman's livery, an early 17th c. chef/cook would have worn basic working-class clothing plus an apron.
Working class clothing is here (yes, they're dressing pirates, but their stuff is pretty good)
