What laws protect Men and Children who suffer from violence?
In a previous question on violence against women act, The following point was made: "Women are less likely than men to be victims of violent crime in general. 5 years old buddies in the U.S. are twice as likely as girls to be murdered. They deserve more than a footnote in an important law, the men of the IMO. "I have some related questions. They are more often victims of violent crime, but where and how such crimes are committed? Are they crimes of violence home? In relation to child homicide, under what circumstances is it committed and by whom? Is this the main reason for the homicide of a child that women Abused facing extreme difficulty to withdraw their children and abusers? Was designed VAWA to help this problem? Finally, Is it appropriate to confuse the statistics on violent crime in the general population with that happening in the context of the family?
Most crimes of violence against men and women are committed by men. Men are more often victims of violent crimes, but crimes are rarely violent crimes domestic, but instead of men on male violence. And most of the violence legislation assumes that the male is the norm, which is why almost all the terms Legal uses the word "he" to describe people in general. The laws against DV were specifically written with women in mind because that until a few years ago, violence against women in a domestic situation was not considered "real" violence. Women were discouraged from reporting and castigated when they did, as "unfair." There are stats out the wazoo to support, but it will not make a little difference for the Greek chorus of opponents here ~ they have an agenda, not an interest in the truth. Cheers
