Would you rather have a cute/not so smart or not so cute/smart child?
And does it make a difference if the father is a jerk even if he won't be in the picture in either case?
Well, as sad as it usually is, cute will win out over brains almost every time for getting ahead in life.
Relationships, employers, clubs and organizations all seem to be brainwashed into thinking better looking is a better person. So from that standpoint cute would be better if you can keep them from growing up conceited and full of themselves.
You can always get smarter but you can't always get cuter.
